Sports Chiropractic Care You Can Trust
Sports injuries can affect athletes of every age and ability, from competitive athletes and weekend warriors to runners, cyclists, weightlifters, and active individuals. Whether you're dealing with a recent injury, recurring pain, or movement limitations that interfere with your performance, specialized sports chiropractic care can help you recover and return to the activities you enjoy.
At Spine and Sport Center, our Colorado Springs sports chiropractors take an individualized approach to evaluating and treating musculoskeletal injuries. Rather than focusing only on where you feel pain, we conduct thorough evaluations to identify the underlying cause of your symptoms, assess how your body moves, and understand the physical demands of your sport or activity.
Led by Dr. Shane Conrad, a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP), our team combines sports chiropractic adjustments, manual therapy, soft tissue techniques, dry needling when appropriate, and active rehabilitation to help reduce pain, restore movement, and support long-term recovery.
When treating sports injuries, working with an experienced sports chiropractor who has advanced training in injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation can make a meaningful difference in your recovery. Our goal is to help patients restore function and manage pain through appropriate conservative treatment, potentially avoiding surgery when medically feasible. When surgery is necessary, we collaborate with qualified orthopedic surgeons and other healthcare providers to support a coordinated recovery and rehabilitation plan.

Our Approach to Sports Injury Evaluation and Treatment
Choosing the right sports chiropractor is an important part of recovering from an injury, managing persistent pain, and returning to the activities you enjoy. While many chiropractors treat musculoskeletal conditions, advanced training in sports injury assessment, rehabilitation, and athletic performance provides additional expertise in addressing the unique physical demands placed on athletes.
Dr. Shane Conrad is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP®), an advanced professional credential awarded through the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians®. This certification reflects specialized education, examination, and clinical expertise in sports chiropractic, including the evaluation and management of sports-related injuries.
With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Conrad has worked with professional, amateur, and recreational athletes across a wide range of sports and physical activities. Whether you're experiencing knee pain, plantar fasciitis, recurring muscle strains, CrossFit-related injuries, or chronic musculoskeletal discomfort, his approach begins with a comprehensive evaluation to identify the factors contributing to your symptoms and develop an individualized treatment plan.
Dr. Conrad's clinical approach integrates sports chiropractic care, manual muscle techniques, dry needling, and rehabilitative exercise. His background in strength and conditioning further informs his understanding of biomechanics, athletic movement, injury recovery, and the physical demands of training and competition. Rather than relying on a single treatment technique, he selects appropriate therapies based on each patient's clinical findings, activity level, and recovery goals.
In addition, Dr. Shane has been a strength and conditioning coach, has extensive experience in rehab exercises, and is a licensed Acupuncturist through the University of McMaster’s School of Biomedical Acupuncture and the Integrative Dry Needling Institute. Dr. Shane has also studied extensively under the guidance of Dr. Stephen Kaufmann in the application of his Pain Neutralization Technique. He uses this technique extensively in the treatment of chronic pain and pain sensitization syndromes.
By combining advanced sports chiropractic credentials, extensive clinical experience, and individualized rehabilitation strategies, Dr. Conrad and the Spine and Sport Center team help athletes and active individuals manage pain, restore mobility, improve physical function, and work toward a safe, sustainable return to their activities.
