What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a specialized form of manual medicine that uses hands on techniques to treat neuromusculoskeletal conditions. These are problems that originate in the nerves, the muscles, and the joints. Chiropractors perform “spinal adjustments” that help to mobilize and realign joint structures. While most Chiropractors specialize in delivering only spinal adjustments (straight Chiropractors); but our educational background gives us the ability to go beyond these simple intervention to more complex inter-disciplinary models. In these case we can provide care that combines traditional Chiropractic adjustments with manual muscle work (massage), exercise prescription, acupuncture, and even nutritional optimization. Chiropractic is truly a profession that varies greatly from practice to practice. Depending on what you need, you should do your homework and try to find the best fit for your particular needs.

What are the doctor’s qualifications?

Dr. Conrad is a doctor of Chiropractic, having graduated in 2003 from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He established the Spine and Sport Center in 2005 as a center for Integrative Manual Therapy as he found that combining various treatment methods offered superior results when compared to the standard Chiropractic model. In addition to being a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Conrad is also a Sports Chiropractic specialist having attained the highest credentialing available with the American Chiropractic Board of Sport Physicians. Dr. Conrad has also studied Biomedical Acupuncture through the School of Anesthesiology at McMaster University and hold Dry Needle Acupuncture credentialing through the Integrative Dry Needling course offered by Dr. Ma.

What are the costs of care?

This is a difficult question to answer as it is different for each individual based on a variety of factors. Also, we want to mention that per visit costs can be deceiving as it is highly likely that your condition will require a course of care consisting of several visits over a period of time.

When insurance is involved you will be subject to co-pays and deductibles; not to mention visitation caps. This could have you paying out of pocket for some or all of your care. We recommend that if you have questions about the costs associated with care that you call our office directly so that we can learn a little more about your situation and coverage (if any). We will explain to you our time-of-service fee schedule. Regardless of your situation, we promise to do our best to ensure that you will know your out of pocket expenses prior to booking your initial evaluation.

What conditions can be treated with Chiropractic care?

The “wheelhouse” of Chiropractic care centers around the treatment of non-surgical spinal conditions. That includes neck complaints, middle and lower back pain, headaches, and sciatica to name but a few. Yet, that is not the full extent on what we have to offer. Dr. Conrad is a certified Sports Specialist and has extensive additional education in the realm of sports injuries and extremity injuries. In addition to the traditional conditions Dr. Conrad is incredibly¬†skilled at treating a great variety of other conditions including:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Rotator cuff syndrome
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Knee pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • TMJ (Temporomandibular joint disorder)
  • and much, much more.
